Choosing The Right Location For Your Wedding

Posted on Sunday, July 11, 2010 in dating

Visualizing where you want your wedding to be is the easiest part of choosing the right location for your wedding, but actually putting it all together and getting it set in stone can be difficult at times. There is a lot of planning that comes along with the location of a wedding. Weddings are special to couples and most of the time they pick a place that is also especially significant to them, as well.

Choosing the right place to have the wedding can be tricky. You will probably have the ceremony in a church and then proceed to the place where the reception will be held. However, some couples prefer to have the ceremony and reception all in the same location. This can make it easier at times because the bride will have no need to get in and out of the limo to drive to another location for the reception. Brides can be very picky about getting their dress wrinkled and this can eliminate that situation from even arising. There are several other important factors to consider when choosing the right location for your wedding. Here are a few tips to help you figure it out.

How many guests?: One of the most important things that will help you decide on a location is the number of guests that will attend the wedding. Many places like halls and other indoor facilities have a maximum capacity of occupants that can be there, so you need to have a good estimate on how many guests you are expecting. You should always overestimate just a bit in case you have more than you planned for. Sometimes it’s best to have the reception outside if you are going to have a lot of guests.

Budget: This might be one of the first things that comes into your mind when choosing a place. Having enough money to cover the cost of the reception is key, not only for the space that you will be occupying but also everything else that comes along with it like the dcor, food, drinks, music, lighting, flowers and all the rest. Be sure that you have a set budget while you’re planning the wedding so that you can make the proper deductions as you go along. Do some shopping around before making a final decision because some places are going to be less costly than others.

The interior: If you are going to be having the wedding and the reception inside you will need to choose a location that is accommodating to both the needs of the ceremony and the after party. It will need to be large enough so you are not cramped in the same location as the reception trying to take your vows. You want to be sure that you can separate the two activities (marriage and party) enough to where it seems like they are in two different areas.

Other things you need: Make sure that you have a listing of all the areas you will need at your location. You should choose a place that can accommodate the number of guests that you plan to have. You might need to have a coat checking area and a large area for parking. Make sure that there are restrooms, enough room for the entertainment, a bar and all of the tables you will have. You can do a walk through the place prior to the wedding to ensure that it has all the features you require.

Location, location, location: Of course, the most important thing when deciding a location is, well, choosing the location! Think of the wedding as having an interior and exterior perception. If the weather is going to be nice, perhaps it would be best to have the wedding outside as well as the reception. This also depends on whether or not your reception will carry on into the evening. If you are planning to have the reception outside in the evening you can also rent tents in order to give it that inside/outside appeal. Candlelit tents can be very romantic and classy as well.

Remember, when you’re choosing a location for your wedding always think of the bigger picture. You will want to make sure that you include every aspect of your wedding in the final decision of a location. This will assure that the place you choose will not only work, but work for you and everyone else, as well.
