Does it upset you if someone asks you your ethnicity?

I am a very light-skinned African-American women and both of my parents are African-American, but my great-grandmother was Irish and her husband was Cherokee Indian. My brothers and my sister are brown-skinned , but I am light like my mother and her family. People have walk up to me and started speaking Spanish. Most people never, ever guess that I am black. I have my picture on the internet at different dating sites and everyone thinks I am something other than black. Should I be offended? It really doesn’t bother me too much, but one time I was at a conference. There were only two black women there which was me and a very dark skinned woman. I went to dinner with the white and hispanic girls and while we were having dinner someone started talking about African-Americans and used the “N” word. They really bad rapped black people and I was right there. I hit the ceiling (if you know what I mean) and cussed all of them out. Can you understand my delima? What do you think?

No, I’m White. We don’t get upset over such minutiae.
